Many people complain to me that their lives aren’t where we want them to be, yet they don’t take any real action to change things. Everyone has goals and dreams, and a solid plan of action and DISCIPLINE is the only thing between you and your goals. " 5 Steps For Getting What You Want Out of Life" sounds trivial I know, but still worth to do these steps. I tried many times to go arround this, chasing luck, building insider contacts and many other things what seemed to be shortcuts to success but none of them worked on the long run. So, spare your time with trial and error and follow these five steps to get more of what you want out of life.
Step 1: Find Your “Why”
The first step to getting what you want in life is really looking inside yourself and finding out why you want, what you want. What really matters to you? You might think you want to earn more money, but earning money in itself isn’t what will make you happy. Earning money so that you can provide a solid education or a dream vacation, unforgetable memories for your children, and your spouse however, plus the ability to work wherever you want and whenever you want is (maybe) a BIG reason WHY.Or you just simpli want a nice house or a mansion and a yellow Lamborgini for you and a lime coloured for your spouse. I do not know, but that reason will motivate you to achieve more. Or any other REASON. But please spend time in that area and again and again revise what do you really want.Search and research, invest in your why.The change starts here. That is the driving force.
Step 2: Evaluate Where You Already Are
Next, it’s important to take stock of where you already are in relation to your big goal. Make a list on paper and write out all the circumstances of your life that aren’t quite where you expect them to be. And do not forget look at the calendar, and see where you are on your life timeline. This cuts to the bone and can catapult you towards your goals. If you are young, do not procrastinate. If you are over forty, hey, it is time to do something. It is never to late. You still look better with gray hair in wellbeing than having the same gray hair without being well, without living your dreams. I think it is better to sit with gray hair in a Porsche Cabriolet, than to sit in the bus stop. It is also never to late to take care of yourself, your body. For example - as I red it recently- Giorgio Armani started to work out everyday for one-and-a-half hours only at the age of 50. Look at him now, he is still doing o.k. So start it today.
Step 3: Break Down the Obstacles in Your Way
Now it’s time to take the list you made in step two, and understand what exactly is standing in your way. For example, one thing on your list might be that you don’t have enough money to travel the world like you’ve always dreamed of. So take this further and ask yourself why you don’t have enough money. Is it because you are in debt? If so, break down some steps to get out of debt.
As you can see, this is all about recognizing how one situation leads to another. Not being smart about money leads to debt, not making a debt payoff plan leads to having no money, and having no money holds you back from travelling the world. But on the other hand if you want to really travel the world it is not about money the first place. It is about your decision. Did Ernesto "Che" Guevara had a lot of money with his friend Alberto when they went on their South-America trip with that 13 year old single cylinder Norton motorcycle?
Step 4: Make a Plan of Action
Now you know the exact obstacles that stand in your way, it’s time to find solutions. Things like being in debt ( for example) might seem too difficult to get out of, but there’s always a way. You could start by making a budget, then by figuring out which luxuries you can cut out. Then you could brainstorm extra ways of making money. Create a plan to make more money, research, learn new ways of making money. Get open again.Look at things again without pre-conceptions.Yess, there is money to be made, there is a way to get back your financial independence.
To speed things along, you could even downsize, sell your car, or move in with your parents! But again more income is the key- that is also my experience.
Step 5: Believe in Yourself and Take Action
Lastly, it’s important to change your mindset. You have to start believing that you can truly achieve whatever you want in life. Yes, everyone has certain limitations that can make things more difficult. But there are countless success stories out there when people overcame huge limitations to achieve everything they ever wanted.
The thing is, it does take THINKING and ACTION. However, once you start thinking more positively and truly believe in yourself, a lot of your work is already done. And remember, if you encounter any setbacks along the way, it’s all a lesson that you can learn and improve from. It is. You grow the most when it hurts. But even the other day I heard it live from Arnold Schwarzenegger in Budapest: No Pain, No Gain.
To your success,
